Samuel’s Intangibles: Mississippi State Edition

Each week columnist Sam Lasseter shares from his unique perspective and predicts the outcome for Saturday’s game.

The Missouri game was a good SEC opener for the Auburn Tigers. I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency and output of the Auburn Tigers on offense, with Stidham 13–17, and Kerryon Johnson scoring five TDs. It also appears LeggaTron has his mojo back after nailing 41, 52 and 54-yard field goals.

The defense played another solid game, and if they continue to improve only good things will happen for our Auburn Tigers. This week is the SEC home opener for the Tigers. The Mississippi State Bulldogs come to town a little wounded after getting throttled by the Georgia Bulldogs 31–3 in Athens.

This game should be an interesting match-up for the Auburn Tigers. Can the offense improve on their success against Missouri? Can the defense slow down Nick Fitzgerald? Will LeggaTron have another outstanding performance?

I say yes to all three, and I see a successful SEC home opener for Auburn. I think Jarrett Stidham will lead us to an impressive win and we’ll be partying like it’s 1995 again!

There will be no “Who Let the Dogs Out” celebrations this time around:

Auburn Tigers 34 — Mississippi State 14
