Fake History: Syracuse AD *Forgets* Sugar Bowl Against Auburn

Syracuse AD John Wildhack recently announced plans to recognize the 1987 Orangemen’s undefeated season this September.

There’s plenty of ways he could’ve called them undefeated without seeming to cover up their Sugar Bowl tie against Auburn. But, instead, he went with this:

“11–0 undefeated season, capped by a last-second victory—a two-point conversion that Michael Owens successfully made against West Virginia . . .”

All he had to do was slip regular in front of season—or exchange capped by for including—and his statement would be totally legitimate.

Will they address the Sugar Bowl during their celebration on September 9? We won’t know. We’ll be busy with another team in orange. War Eagle!
