President Donald Trump addressed the graduates at Liberty University’s commencement today, and took a look at the Liberty Flames’ football schedule for 2018. When he got to Auburn, he questioned the wisdom of Jerry Falwell, Jr.’s ambitious scheduling.

Auburn! Jerry, are you sure you know what you’re doing? Jerry, Auburn . . . I don’t know about that game. This could be trouble, Jerry.
Interestingly enough, when Jerry Falwell, Sr. started Liberty’s football program, he said he didn’t want Liberty just to have football, but that he wanted to compete with the best programs, like Notre Dame and Auburn.
That comment was included in some recruiting materials Liberty sent out in the 90s.
Now, Rev. Falwell’s vision is finally coming to fruition. Or, that may depend on your definition of compete. We shall see!
