Now, about the game itself . . .

Here’s my prediction: Auburn 37 – LSU 27

You’ve heard about Gus’s emotional press conference on Tuesday. Some folks bought it; others didn’t. I think it’s a sign that he truly hit some sort of rock bottom Saturday night—that he spent a hard moment looking in the mirror, and a high school football coach from Arkansas told him, You know it doesn’t have to be this hard.

Malzahn told us in the summer he was getting back to his roots as a hands on coach. That kind of reform is easier said than done. But I think the weight of everything since Tre Mason’s last touchdown finally broke him a little this week—in a good way.

He’s back at his foundation. He’s back on ground where he knows how to fight. So watch out.

Here’s another prediction. Daniel Carlson will make field goals nos. 47–50 of his Auburn career Saturday night. Number 50 will be a 50-yarder.

I’ve never been right about my various Carlson predictions.

Corn. dog. down. War Eagle!
